Thursday, June 29th, 2006Unsuspected
You came when everything was wild
uncertainty was the way of life
with my hands i held You
taking care not to break your fragile body
You were so small, Your face the size of my fist
thin hair and wrinkled light yellow skin
as You were sleeping i circled my arms around You
hoping to act like a shield from the harsh reality
the world being unkind
each morning i would let You bask in the sun
strengthen You -following what the doctor ordered
each night i would rock You to sleep
while singing a song far from a lullaby
but now You’re growing up faster than imaginable
and it pains me to admit of not being there
i miss You
